About Bangladesh Betar

Bangladesh Betar is a Bengali-language FM radio station located in Dhaka, Bangladesh, that functions to support nation-building efforts of the government, upholding social values and the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage. Established in 1939 as part of All India Radio, it became Bangladesh Betar after the country’s independence in 1971. Bangladesh Betar is a sister service to Bangladesh Television, which is also state-owned. During the Bangladesh Liberation War, it became famously known as Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra (Independent Bengal Radio Station). The station broadcasts in multiple languages, primarily Bengali, and plays a crucial role in promoting Bangladeshi music, literature, and heritage. With both AM and FM frequencies, Bangladesh Betar ensures widespread reach, making it one of the oldest and most trusted radio services in Bangladesh.
