KKCR 91.7FM is a pioneering community radio station based in Kagadi Town Council, in the Kagadi District of midwestern Uganda, that focuses almost entirely on developmental and educational content. The station’s mission is to provide its listeners with a unique and exciting radio experience that captures the essence of Ugandan culture and lifestyle. It operates on 91.7 MHz FM and is widely regarded as the first truly community-oriented radio service in Uganda, established to serve rural populations with information and education tailored to their needs. KKCR is part of the East African Community Media Programme (EACMP), which originated from the 1992 Rio Earth Summit. Its programming focuses heavily on educational and development topics, with roughly 90% of airtime dedicated to community education and debate rather than commercial entertainment.
