About Radio Sport
Radio Sport (previously Sports Roundup) was a national sports radio station in New Zealand that broadcast sports talk, live commentary, and sports news for more than two decades. It held commentary rights for most cricket matches, international and domestic rugby union games, NRL rugby league games, trans-Tasman basketball, and New Zealand tennis tournaments. The station was one of the countryβs main radio platforms dedicated entirely to sports until it closed in 2020. Its leading journalists and broadcasters keep listeners’ eyes on the ball. Radio Sport mainly broadcasts live sports commentary, sports talkback shows, sports news and analysis, and interviews with athletes and experts. The station was famous for its heated talkback sessions, where fans would call in after a loss to “sack the coach” or debate the national team selection.
