About Arman FM

Arman FM (98.1 MHz) is one of the most well-known private radio stations in Afghanistan that broadcasts in Dari and Pashto, Afghanistan’s two official languages, and sometimes includes international content. Its name, Arman, translates to “Hope” in Dari. The station is owned by the Moby Media Group, a major media organization operating in Afghanistan and the wider region. It introduced a new style of broadcasting that emphasized entertainment, music, youth-oriented programs, and interactive talk shows. The station was revolutionary for its informal tone, use of young male and female DJs, and focus on entertainment over state-driven propaganda. Arman FM’s programming traditionally included Afghan pop music, Bollywood songs, Western hits, comedy shows, call-in segments, and live DJ-hosted programs. Many of its presenters (RJs) became popular public figures due to their engaging on-air personalities and connection with listeners. The station was known for popular call-in shows, competitions, and comedy segments; shows like Subhe Arman (Arman Morning) were staples for Kabul commuters.
